Studies on cytogenetic effects of bacterial vaccines (black quarter and enterotoxemia)

Thesis Kurukshetra University 1981 Sahai, R Summary: Studies were undertaken to evaluate the cytogenetic effects of the two bacterial vaccines viz, enterotoxemia and black quarter on the animal chromosomes. Incidence of abnormal metaphose chromosomes were recorded in all the tretment and control groups. Various types of chromosomes aberration suchas gaps constrictions chromosomes breaks chromatid breaks with fragment translocations pulverizations and polyploidy. The black quarter treated animals also exhibited chromatid breaks centromeric breaks gaps deletion and pulverization. The animals administered 50 ml of vaccine showed more aberrations as compared to 2.5 ml dose. THe overall frequency of aberrations in ET treated series showed a normal curve. thagh the peak values varied in the two doses large sized chromosomes were more prone to aberration the percentage of cels in mitosis did not markedly differ series of animals.
