Inheritance of sweat gland characteristics in murrah buffalo

By: Sharma, A.
Publisher: Karnal NDRI 1977Subject(s): Dairy-Cattle-GeneticsDissertation note: M.Sc. Thesis Kurukshetra University 1977 Nagarcenkar, R Summary: The average length, diameter, shape and volume of sweat glands were observed to be 550.65+ 32.51 , 130.20+926, 39.90+13.62, 7476546.58+101265.55 respectively similarly their heritability estimates were 0.6843+0.03956,0.4858+0.3392,0.3852_03172 and 0.6280+0.3792 respectively. The high heritability essitmated and sweat gland charactereristics reveal that is fair amount of genetic variation in sweat gland and possibility of mass selection for these characters. Further studies on large sample size would however be desirable in view of large standard errors of heritabilits estimates as the sample size was small and consisted of only nine half-sib groups.
